THE Cirencester Christmas Spectacular, organised by the Barn Theatre and featuring Poldark star Heida Reed, was a massive success.

The event, held for the first time in Cirencester Parish Church on Wednesday, December 6, entertained guests with performances from an array of performers from TV, film and musicals.

There were the talented young adult performers from The Barn Theatre Academy. Tam Williams (star of Spectre, Heartbeat and Holby City) read a hilarious Christmas themed extract from Adrian Mole’s Diary, while Icelandic Christmas traditions were brought alive by Poldark’s Heida Reed.

There was also a beautiful performance of Walking in the Air by two of the evening’s youngest singers Lily Hobbs and Martha Humphries, while the Other Guys brought the house down with their tribute to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons

Chris Jacobson, the youngest actor ever to play Jean Valjean in London’s West End, sang the show’s most memorable song Bring Him Home.

Cirencester’s very own Male Voice Choir led the carols and Cirencester’s mayor Cllr Nigel Robbins gave a speech highlighting the work The Barn Theatre is doing to support mental health services in the community.

This Country's Daisy May Cooper said: “I was blown away by the Cirencester Christmas Spectacular, I have never seen a show like it outside of London, it was so professional and seamlessly executed.

"The Barn Theatre is exactly what Cirencester needs and I wish there had been something like this when I was a child.”

The Barn Theatre opens at Beeches Road next March.
