THE A46 Painswick Road remains closed this morning due to ice.
The road was closed overnight due to safety concerns reported yesterday at 3.43pm regarding bent trees and cables as a result of heavy deposits of ice.
The road has been closed both ways between the junctions with B4073 Pullens Road and Cirencester Road. It will affect those travelling between Stroud and Cheltenham.
Gloucestershire Highways bosses hope that rain will melt heavy deposits of ice. The road will remain closed until it is safe again.
GlosRoads Tweeted yesterday: "Due to further safety concerns associated with trees & branches overhanging the A46, the road will remain closed until further notice. We are continuing to monitor the situation here & will advise as soon as it is safe to re-open the road."
UPDATE: The road has reopened.
