A PERSON has died after being hit by a train near Berkeley.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene, where a train has been stopped, shortly after 1.30pm.
Officers were called to a railway bridge near Kitts Green Farm, Berkeley following reports of a person being struck by a train.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers will now work to establish the person’s identity and inform their family.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Rail services have been suspended, with passengers being warned of delays of about 90 minutes.
UPDATE: @GWRHelp are conveying passengers via any reasonable route, and @ArrivaTW conveying passengers between Gloucester & Cardiff until further notice. Arrangements have been made for CrossCountry rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.
