  • SIDDINGTON residents may be interested in an illustrated talk taking place at the Ashcroft Centre, Ashcroft Road, Cirencester on Wednesday, September 27, starting at 7.30pm. Cirencester Archaeological and Historical Society has invited Simon Sworn, a Senior Archaeological Projects Officer with Cotswold Archaeology, to explain the results of recent excavations at the Bloor Homes development off Siddington Road (Spire View and Swinford Close). These revealed features dating from early prehistoric to the Anglo-Saxon period, shedding light on our understanding of Saxon settlement in the area. Non-members welcome to attend the talk for a small fee of £3.
  • SIDDINGTON Cricket Club concluded the season with a game against Swindon Beehive, played at Ampney Crucis. Beehive batted first and scored 131-3. Siddington, batting in fading light, were all out for 77, thus losing by 54 runs. Nevertheless, the players, and in particular Jon Hughes, should be congratulated for resurrecting Siddington Cricket Club after a hiatus of over 50 years.
