A CHEQUE for more than £2,000 was presented to Coates Village Hall in a special ceremony, with the money to go towards revamping the hall’s kitchen.

The Coates Village Grande Fiesta, held on June 17 at Trewsbury Farm Estate, raised over £6,000, with the rest of the cash going to Coates Riding for the Disabled and St Matthew's Church.

The country show and Argentinian BBQ fiesta had been supported by the parish council, with organising committee member Jan Edmonds calling it “a great success”.

Referring to the money earmarked for the revamp work, she said: “The village hall kitchen has been in need of an upgrade for a long time and this will be the springboard to achieve this goal.”

Ron Smith, hall management advisor, was presented with the cheque on Tuesday, August 15 at the hall, with a happy band of residents there to join in the celebrations.

“The village hall is booked for birthday parties, wedding receptions, commercial meetings and a number of local user groups,” said Jan.

“An upgraded kitchen will provide a more attractive venue for these activities and more.”
