  • THE next Tetbury and district footpath  group meeting/walk will be on August 22. Meet at the Long Stay Car Park GL8 8EY at 9.30am for a 8km walk around Castle Combe.   • ANIMAL service at St John the Baptist in Shipton Moyne Church on Sunday, August 27 at 11.15am. All are welcome including animals and pets.
  • THE annual Beating of the Bounds of Tetbury will take place on Saturday, September 2. All are welcome. Meet under Bath Bridge at 9.30am. This is followed by coffee and the presentation of the accounts of the Feoffee in the Market Hall.

  • ST MARY’S Festival chorus need you to sing at the Tetbury music Eucharist on Sunday, October 1 at 10.30am. No auditions. Music will be by Higginson, Mozart, Handle and Wesley.   • WINNERS of July’s 300+ club draw, receiving from £13 down to £7, are Robert Chudleigh, Kevin Noble, Jenny Griffiths, Noelle Southam, Paul Jarvis, Lynda Fleming, and Andy Taylor.
  • DURING carnival week the winner of the pub challenge cricket match was the team from The Carpenters Arms, while Dean Parkes won the skittles match.
  • WINNERS of the boules competition were The Piste Artistes from Wales, taking home the Sherston Cup; runners-up were Cleaver Boules from London, whilst the highest placed Sherston team was Linda Fitzpatrick and her Trois Filles. 
  • THE Plate competition was a great success for those knocked out in the early rounds, and saw Imperial Officers Club from Bath celebrate success in their final, whilst the Colts Competition was won by the Bullocks and the Junior boules by The Beach Boys.
  • FINALLY, the duck race was won by Jake Bostock.
  • A CHARITY bingo, in aid of a different local charity each month takes place tomorrow at 7.30pm for 8pm start in the village hall. Entry is 50p and 30p a book. Light refreshments will be available.
  • FROM September the church service at Easton Grey will be held on the third Sunday of the month, usually at 9.30am.
  • THE Friends of Sherston School’s bike ride at Castle Combe circuit raised over £670 for funds.
  • SENIOR club meets on Tuesday at 2.30pm in the village hall, when Clive Rathband will be showing slides of his favourite things. Visitors are welcome at £2 each, to include refreshments. Call Helen Quirk on 01666 840516.
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Sherston Cubs who won June’s North Wilts District six-a-side football tournament, despite having only five players and no reserve.
  • THEATRE club members head to The Mill at Sonning on Wednesday, for the evening performance of Spider’s Web by Agatha Christie.
