  • EVERYONE is invited to the new All Age Service at 4pm on Sunday, August 20 at Kempsford Church led by the Rev Lynn Hayler. This will be a short (40 minutes) informal service with songs, prayers, Bible reading and activities, followed by refreshments and the chance to get to know others in the community.
  • HOLY Communion 9.30am this Sunday, August 13 at St Mary’s Kempsford led by the Rev John Partington.
  • CRICKET Club Fixture for this Sunday, is a home match against Wytham, 2pm start. The Cricket Club Fun Day went well with the weather being fine. The most popular activity was the Mini Olympics.  A sizeable profit was made enabling the Cricket Club to continue with the much-needed refurbishments to the tearoom and changing rooms.   • ADVENTURE Camp 2017 is from Wednesday, August 30 to Friday, September 1. This will be led by a team from Scripture Union with river sports, drama, craft, camping and other activities. Contact Rosemary on 07765 258839.
  • PAUL and Ruth, the new publicans at The George in Kempsford, celebrated their moving in with a fun party which included live music. The menus for lunches, evening meals and Sunday roasts look very inviting and would suit all tastes. We wish them well.

  • FAIRFORD Town Council is subsidising a special community bus service every Wednesday to bring people into Fairford from the villages on Market Day. The Community Connexions bus company started last Wednesday transporting people from Fairford, Horcott, Whelford, Kempsford, RAF Fairford main gate, Meysey Hampton and Greenacres mobile home park. The bus this Wednesday, August 16 will collect people from Southrop, Eastleach, Hatherop, Coln St Aldwyns and Quenington. Pick up from your home at 9am and return at 12pm. Cost is £1 each way and you should book your place on 0345 680 5029. This is being trialled for six months to gauge the popularity, so please use it or lose it.
  • OVER the summer, there will be a branch of the Cirencester Foodbank in Fairford to support families who do not benefit from school meals over the summer period or anyone else who finds themselves in need. Sessions are being held at Fairford Primary School each Thursday in August from 1-2.30pm. If you do not have vouchers, you can contact Fairford's Vicar, Rev Caroline Symcox, on 01285 712467, who is happy to provide them.
  • IT IS Country Music Night at The Bull Hotel, Fairford on Friday, August 11. Enjoy an evening hosted by Hensler and the Texas Pearls and tuck in to  gourmet burgers. Performing the greatest hits of Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Billy Jo Spears, George Jones and more. Starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £20 to include burger.   • ON MONDAY, August 14, there will be a Circus Skills workshop as part of the free Summer Off The Streets activities for children aged 6-14 years. It takes place at 10am-12pm in Fairford Community Centre. On Wednesday, August 16, there will be a two-hour Music Technology workshop (9-14 years) between 10am-12pm in the community centre. All the workshops are free, but places are limited, so please book online at worldjungle.org.uk.   • THE Kitchen Club is excited to announce their Summer Holiday Workshop schedule with varied cooking events for children from August 15-17 and from August 22-24. There will be a Cotswold Afternoon Tea; Picnic Lunch; Lakeside BBQ; Foraging for Fruit; Chicken BBQ and Seaside Fish 'n' Chips. Each session is from 9.30am to 3.30pm. For the Tuesday sessions, parents are invited to sample at 2.30pm. Booking is essential and spaces are limited. Individual days can be booked with sessions costing either £30 or £35.   • THE Town Council meets on every second Monday of the month at 7.30pm when all residents are welcome. There are opportunities for questions and statements in the public participation sessions.
