POLICE have released CCTV images of a man who they want to speak to in relation to a break-in at a church in Lechlade.
A collection box was stolen during a break-in at St Lawrence Church on Sunday (July 23), while attempts were also made to disconnect the church’s CCTV system.
Police believe the incident at the Market Place church occurred between noon and 5.30pm.
“The thief or thieves have got into the church and have stolen a wooden collection box and have tried to disconnect the church’s own CCTV system,” said Cotswold Police Sergeant Garrett Gloyn.
“We are conducting forensic enquiries and CCTV enquiries in respect of what they’ve got at the church, but also Lechlade town’s new CCTV system.”
Sgt Gloyn said police are appealing for “anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the church” on Sunday afternoon to report it on 101.
Incident number 367 of July 23.
