PRINCESS Anne officially opened the Lakes Care Centre near South Cerney today.

The Order of St John Care Trust's (OSJCT) new facility held their formal opening event attended by OSJCT residents, employees, local community representatives and civic dignitaries.

Her Royal Highness unveiled a special commemorative plaque to mark the event and spoke to residents and employees at the care centre.

The new 64-bed care centre includes two floors dedicated to providing specialist dementia care and has a number of features to promote reminiscence as therapy.

Residents have access to a 24-hour nurse call facility, a garden room, hair salon, cinema, and other communal spaces.

The home is built by Stepnell Construction Ltd, in partnership with OSJCT, which provides the care in the new home.
