COTSWOLD District Council are warning residents about scam calls claiming that residents' properties may not be in the correct Council Tax band.
A company called 'Sure Claims' is making the calls and tries to arrange a time to visit residents with a view to carrying out a detailed Council Tax assessment.
This is one of a number of similar scams that have come to light over the last year or so.
The district council is reminding residents that they should contact the Valuation Office Agency directly on 03000 501 501 if they believe that their property is not in the correct Council Tax band.
They council advised that there is no need for a third party to represent their interests and that residents should ignore any offers of assistance, especially if they are asked to disclose their banking details.
Residents may even wish to alert the police if the caller is persistent.
