THERE were several thefts from cars in the Cotswolds over the weekend.

A theft from a car happened at the De Vere Hotel (formally the Four Pillars Hotel) in South Cerney between 5pm on Saturday, June 24 and 4.30am on Sunday, June 25.

The thief smashed the window of a Vito van and gained entry. Sports equipment were stolen, including a blue BMC TM02 bicycle worth £6,000, a Garmin Edge bike computer worth £150, a TYR wet suit worth £170 and a black and silver cycling helmet.

CCTV inquiries for the hotel are underway.

There were two more thefts from vehicles in Birdlip. Both occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

A blue Hyundai A10 was entered. No damage was caused but a bicycle saddle bag was stolen and on the same night a Smart Forfour car was also entered with just £10 in loose change stolen from within.
