THE headmaster of Coln House School in Fairford, John Davidson, is pictured above in June 1987, receiving a soaking in the stocks from pupil Andrew Ebsworth.
The school for children with special needs was holding its first fete, and Mr Davidson was taking one for the team.
Miserable weather can’t have made the experience very comfortable for the headmaster, but the students certainly enjoyed it.
All the usual fete attractions were also on offer, including welly-wanging, a tug-of-war and a range of stalls.
The festivities managed to raise £1,300, after expenses, from up to 1,400 attendees, with the money going towards school renovations.
Unfortunately in the long-run it would have taken millions, not thousands, to secure its future. The school permanently closed in March this year, partly due to being ‘financially unviable.’
