A PET snake which escaped its owner’s home and was found in a neighbour’s back garden after two weeks, has been reunited with its owners.
A concerned resident noticed Molt, a male corn snake, in a bin liner in their garden on Siddington Road in Cirencester on Wednesday (June 21) and called Great Western Exotic Vets in Swindon.
Where Moult was found
The specialist veterinary practice on Shrivenham Road, then took the snake back to Swindon and provided him with refuge until his owners could be located.
Emma Wilson, of Great Western Exotic Vets, called the Standard on Thursday morning to ask for the message to be put out, in the hopes of getting hold of the owners.
“It was found in somebody’s back garden on Siddington Road on Wednesday,” she said.
Initially, Emma did not wish to disclose the species of snake, fearing that anyone could try and claim it as their own.
However, after the Standard shared the news that Molt had been found on Facebook, Emma Baker commented that her son had lost his pet snake.
"My son, however, has lost his red corn snake two weeks ago. We live in Ermin Place, just off Siddington Road, so could possibly be ours?"
Corn snakes, a species of rat snake, originate from North America, and are popular types of snake to keep as pets.
