  • THE next police open surgery/meeting point will be Friday, June 23 from 1-2pm in Tetbury Town Council Offices, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. The next one will be on Monday, June 26 from 2-3pm. This is your chance to drop in and have an informal or formal chat with a local officer.
  • TOMORROW Girl Guiding Tetbury are hosting a family disco at the Dolphins Hall from 7-11pm. Tickets from Tetbury Hardware, or email charlotte missreid1990@hotmail.com. The cost is £3.50 for adults and £1.15 for children. A family ticket for two adults and three children is £10. There will be a BBQ, DJ Lightning, candy floss, popcorn, table magic and balloon modelling and all profits raised will go to the new building project.

  • THE next Tetbury group meeting/walk will be on Tuesday, June 27 at 2pm. The walk crosses Tetbury and continues up Blind Lane, past Highfield Farm to the Cirencester Road and back via Herd Lane. Length: 4m/ 6.5 km, Level: A. Leader Jane Bell 07718 967299. Visitors are welcome and are asked to contact the leader of the walk in advance. All walks start from the free long-stay car park by the old Goods Shed off Cirencester Road. 
  • LAST Friday, June 16 a meeting was convened to address the proposed Lloyds bank van coming to Tetbury. Representatives of Tetbury Town Council, The Feoffees and Tetbury Chamber of Commerce put their concerns and observations forward. The post office will allow personal customers of any bank to make deposits and withdrawals, but the Lloyd’s van/trailer will provide a limited service for business banking. There was a quick tour of the town looking at various sites for the van/trailer. The favourite position is the side of the Market House. Other potential sites were the fire station, Chipping car park and Tesco car park.
  • MAGGIE Heaven, chair of the Dolphins Hall, has announced that the Hall will host lots of activities. At the AGM plans for the extension of the Dolphins Hall were passed. However, the refurbishment and building of the extension will be phased in due to the timing of the funds available to them. At the AGM, they also welcomed three new Trustees, Trolly Wood and Colin Turley are both representing residents and Alex Evans will represent the Cricket Club.

We still have space for some stalls if anyone is interested. 
  • WE WOULD very much appreciate donations of any food or drink items which can be made into hampers for the fayre raffle. These can either be left at Anvil Lodge or pick up can be arranged.

  • A RECYCLED mural is being planned as part of the Sherston Young Person’s Arts Festival in October. Plastic bottle tops are needed, which will be drilled onto a set of large wooden boards to create a beautiful community art installation. All shapes and sizes are required. Please put any donations in the small trug outside Sherston Post Office Stores.
  • SHERSTON Brownies would welcome anyone who has a skill, interest, or collection that they could share with our Brownies one evening, or who would be interested in helping more regularly with their sessions.   • EARLY booking recommended for the Gauzebrook holiday club, which runs on the mornings of July 24 to 28 in Sherston School. The subject is Guardians of Ancora, based on an app produced by the charity Scripture Union. The app combines parkour with exploration of Bible stories about the life of Jesus.   • ON SATURDAY, Sherston Velo will be embarking on its annual solstice ride, now in its fifth year. There are challenges for all abilities of club rider, starting at 60 miles and rising to 150 miles for the more adventurous. All routes take advantage of the Wiltshire Cycleway, which is on Sherston’s doorstep, with riders leaving en mass from the High Street at 9am and returning for a reception at the Vine Tree Inn with friends and family in the evening.
