A TABBY cat was found dead in Tetbury this morning and a veterinary surgery is hoping to identify its owner.

A male cat, mostly white with brown tabby markings on its head and back, was found on London Road this morning, opposite Tesco fuel station.

The cat, which has no microchipped, is believed to have been hit by a car. Staff at the surgery did not know whether the cat was a stray or a pet.

Ashcroft Veterinary Surgery practice manager Natasha Burchett, who picked the cat up on the way to work this morning, said: "It was recently hit because the body was still warm.

"Someone had moved the body from the pavement onto a wall.

"This is the second one I've picked up there. I would say people do speed at that road because it is a longer road and you can see quite a long way. It is also quite a residential area."

If you think you could be the owner of this cat, contact the surgery on 01666 500853 or 01285 653683.
