POLICE are warning Cotswold residents of telephone cold callers offering crime prevention advice.
Residents in the Perrott's Brook and North Cerney areas have been affected by the calls which claim to be by a company called 'Rancom' , saying they are police approved and are working with trading standards.
Police believe this calls are a scam and their advice is to always politely decline any cold call offers made and terminate the call.
Police will only deal with companies that are known to be reputable and that have been sourced personally, as opposed to persons who turn up at the door unannounced or look for business by telephone.
Police advise residents to always contact police and have an incident created using the 999 system, should anyone turn up at a home address and become intimidating or aggressive during their attempts to try to sell products.
If you would like to speak to police about any similar matters, or if anyone has been left concerned about a recent phone call or personal call to the home, contact Pc1530 Stinchcombe or Pcso9194 Shutt at Cirencester Station.
A visit to discuss the matter can be arranged if required.
