  • THERE is an illustrated talk by Peter Juggins entitled ‘Chedworth in the Past’ at Chedworth village hall tomorrow evening Friday, March 24 at 7.30pm, in aid of Friends of St Andrew’s Church. Peter was born and bred in Chedworth, he is a skilled stonemason and many works including the lectern can be seen in Chedworth Church. He also created a number of pieces for churches including creating new pinnacles for Fairford Church. Now resident in Cirencester, Peter was for many years involved in many village organisations including the Parish Council, Chedworth Village Trust and the Chedworth Silver Band where he played euphonium and his solo playing was greatly admired. Tickets £5 on the door.
  • CHEDWORTH WI made over £500 at their jumble sale in the village hall last Saturday.
  • THE final Chedworth whist drive of the 2016/17 season on Monday, March 21 was cancelled due to village hall availability issues, whist drives will return in the autumn.
  • CHEDWORTH village hall’s plans to improve mobile phone reception in the village by working with Shared Access to provide a pole in the village hall car park has been seriously delayed at best or completely stopped by a proposal by Maxema for a mobile phone mast along the Calmsden road. The village hall/Shared Access proposal was available to all mobile phone operators and the hall would receive a payment for use of the grounds. The village hall committee had to cancel the consultation on their own mobile phone pole scheduled for last evening at short notice but not in time to cancel an order for 350 full colour flyers which were to be delivered to each house over the weekend.
  • THE Maxema mast will serve only the CTIL network and will require Armco barriers at the side of the narrow road. The application has an incorrect map references placing the mast opposite Smuggs Barn and incorrect assumptions about conservation area boundaries. Enquiries at GCC revealed they had no knowledge of it despite it being on GCC Highways land. The application came into the public domain when Maxema submitted a pre-application consultation to the parish council and St Andrew’s school.
  • THE parish council is looking for a volunteer to do a bit of strimming on our footpath network. The council purchased a petrol strimmer some years ago but no-one is currently qualified to use it. Regulations mean that in order to use the strimmer you need to have completed a course and there are a couple of courses coming up at Northleach over the next few weeks. If you can help please email clerk@chedworthpc.org.uk or ring 01285 720313.
