FRAMPTON Mansell Rural Cinema is to screen Palme D’Or winner I, Daniel Blake on Tuesday (March 21).
Fifty years since Ken Loach raged against homelessness in his television play Cathy Come Home, the British filmmaker has made a film infused with the same quiet but righteous anger about the failings of the society around him.
I, Daniel Blake is the story of an unlikely but tender friendship between Katie (Hayley Squires), a single mum from London with two kids, and Dan (Dave Johns), a Geordie carpenter in his late fifties who’s out of work and recovering from a heart attack.
The screening will take place at the village hall at 7.30pm with tickets costing £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for under 16s.
