  • THE football and youth club is running again in the village hall on Wednesdays between 6pm and 7.30pm, with special events from time to time, the next one being a film night with popcorn on March 22.   •  FAIRFORD Community Speed Watch will be out in force again over the coming weeks in a variety of police-approved locations. The volunteers will set out advisory roadside notices to alert motorists of their presence and their intention to monitor vehicle speeds. They will wear high visibility jackets and position themselves safely to be clearly visible to approaching vehicles. The speeds recorded will be collected and passed to the police.
  • FAIRFORD Town Football Club is inviting people to ‘pay what you want’ to attend the Uhlsport Hellenic League fixture match at home at Cinder Lane, Fairford to Tytherington Rocks on Saturday, February 25, kick off is at 3pm. The standard matchday ticket price of £5 for adults has been waived and fans can pay what they want in a bid to introduce first time fans, residents or followers of other clubs to football in Fairford.   • MINI Praise at St Mary’s Church, Fairford on Thursday, March 2 at 1.45pm for pre-schoolers and their carers. A lovely little free session with stories, songs, crafts, and snacks.

  • FAIRFORD WI had great fun at their last meeting learning to make origami flowers from WI member, Angela Taylor. The WI were delighted to welcome a number of new members too. A few days after the meeting, four members got to see a splendid array of a different kind of flower, when they helped at the Colesbourne Park snowdrop event, selling cakes in aid of the WI College, Denman. The next meeting of Fairford WI is on Wednesday, March 1 at 7.30pm in the Palmer Hall.   • FAIRFORD Library Saturday Club will provide stories and an activity every Saturday (term time only) from 11.30am till 12pm. Suitable for 4-11 year olds, this is a free drop-in event, details: 01285 712599.
  • DESPITE several notices around the town and in the media asking people to be more responsible, some owners are still allowing their dogs to foul pavements and public areas and then not picking up afterwards. Three people in Fairford have been reported to Cotswold District Council and could face prosecution. If you see someone allowing their dog to foul a public path or area, please report it in confidence to CDC on 01285 623000 or Fairford Town Council on 01285 712344.

  • JOIN a ‘Bus and Pub Walk’ next Thursday, March 2 with an 11am meeting at the bus stop by Lechlade Library to catch the 11.13am No 77 bus to Inglesham. From there it will follow the Thames path to Kempsford for a distance of 3.5 miles with no stiles and little mud. Arrive Kempsford at 1pm with time to have lunch at the George or explore the village. Return via the 2.20pm No. 76 bus to arrive in Lechlade at 3.08pm. There is a longer eight-mile option for the more energetic. For more information call 07768 250065.
