AN open mic night at a Cirencester coffee shop is being held in memory of 'truly amazing' friend and son.

Starbucks in the town centre is extending an invitation to musicians to bring along their instruments or just their voice, to be part of the fundraiser taking place tomorrow evening (23) from 6pm.

The event will raise money for Cotswold Counselling and is in memory of Ryan Rogers.

Ryan, 23, was a talented writer and volunteer at Cirencester Hospital who was greatly loved by his family and many friends.

He graduated with a distinction in computing and systems development from Cirencester College and had an ebook, Icarus, Episode One, and several short stories published online.

Ryan died last month after being hit by a train near Oldends Lane level crossing in Stonehouse.

Parents Claire and Andrew Rogers said: β€œHe could achieve anything he put his mind to – learning and putting in whatever time, practice, knowledge and research required."

All are invited to attend the evening of song and celebration on Thursday.
