A FORMER taxi driver has set up a fish and chip takeaway in Cirencester.
Murat Krltuklu ran a taxi firm in the town for 17 years but at Christmas his “dream came true” when he and his wife opened Watermoor Fish & Chips, on Watermoor Road.
“Fish and chips are the most traditional national takeaway in Britian,” said Murat, who used to be head chef in another catering business before becoming a taxi driver.
What’s more, the eatery is the only fish shop in the town that is certified by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), a British trade association for the industry.
“This means they will provide us with advice, including on any new products and quality of suppliers, as well as new equipment to use, portion standards, packaging and sales,” said Murat.
“We hope to serve the best fish and chips, and make our customers happy – that is most important to us,” he added.
