A 23-YEAR-OLD from Cirencester has been charged with fraud and stalking offences against two vulnerable men – and police are appealing for more alleged victims to come forward.

Gloucestershire Police has released a photo of Ben Savory who is accused of making up stories in order to trick two vulnerable Cirencester men, aged 63 and 21, into handing over hundreds of pounds.

Savory is alleged to have harassed the two men by approaching them in the town as well as at their home addresses in order to obtain money with bogus stories.

Officers believe others in the town may have fallen victim to Savory, who lives in Melmore Gardens.

He appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday, February 8, and was remanded in custody to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on March 10.

As well as fraud, Savory is also charged with stalking both men and allegedly causing them serious alarm or distress, which has had an adverse effect on their day-to-day activities.

Inspector Karen Ellis, who is based in Cirencester, is appealing for anyone who may have been a victim of this type of crime, or knows or cares for a vulnerable person who could have been targeted, to come forward.

Insp Ellis, of Cotswold Police, urged them to call police on 101.
