TOWN and parish councils have objected to a proposal to build 16 homes in Tetbury, citing pressures on infrastructure.

The planning application submitted by Wells Masonry Group Ltd includes internal access roads and landscaped areas, following the demolition of existing buildings on Ilsom Farm in Cirencester Road.

Tetbury Town Council considered the application last Monday (January 9) to make comments and recommendations to Cotswolds District Council, who will be deciding the application on a date which is not yet known.

The town council, in their objection letter, stated that the reason for objection was “the lack of infrastructure, more traffic on our roads, impact on the surgery and schools, traffic problems will occur at the London Road/Cirencester Road junction.”

The town council also requested, if the application were to be permitted, for the affordable unit to be on-site and for £15,000 to be contributed to assist with traffic improvements.

Tetbury Upton Parish Council similarly objected to the application, noting that the development would have an impact on the doctors surgery, schools and roads.

The council pointed out that the plans did not include a footpath leading from the development site to connect with the footpath into the town.

It echoed the town council’s concerns that traffic problems would occur at the London Road/Cirencester Road junction and agreed with the town council’s requests.
