SHOP owners are urged to be aware of fake £50 notes after two incidents in Gloucestershire.
The first incident happened at the Post Office in Kingswood yesterday, Tuesday, January 17. Two men bought two low value items - a magazine and a chocolate bar, before paying with a counterfeit £50 note.
The shop worker gave them their change before releasing the note was fake.
The men were white, in their 20s, wearing dark clothing and had Irish accents. One had ginger hair and the other had dark hair.
Another counterfeit note was used in a coffee shop on the High Street in Berkeley yesterday.
The man bought a coffee and paid with the fake £50 note. He received change before it was released the money was not genuine.
Shop owners are urged to check bank notes before accepting them by using a detector pen or ultra-violet light. They should also look out for low value items being purchased with a £50 note.

Anyone with information of these incidents should call police on 101 quoting incidents 271 of January 17 and 89 of January 18.
