LOCAL members of the VWH Pony Club and the associated VWH Hunt bade farewell to a key figure of the Gloucestershire countryside community.

Rhona Reid, from Fairford, stepped down from her post as joint district commissioner of the Pony Club's local branch for young riders.

She held the top post for 13 years, and before that she held many other roles in the VWH, an involvement spanning 40 years.

Mrs Reid first became involved with the local Pony Club when her two daughters, Alexandra and Victoria, joined the VWH branch in 1976.

She soon became an all-round volunteer at numerous Pony Club activities, before her procession of official posts saw her become joint DC of the VWH in 2003.

The Pony Club, a registered charity staffed mainly by volunteers, provides the grass roots training and education for Olympic riders, local equestrian riders and leisure riders all around the country and in 27 countries worldwide.

Despite relinquishing her official role, Mrs Reid will still be on hand to pass on her experience to the Pony Club.
