THERE will be an election for the Fairford North district ward councillor at Cotswold District Council next month.

The election will take place on Thursday, February 9.

The Statement of Persons Nominated will be published on Monday, January 16, and will be available on the district council’s website.

However, three candidates submitted nominations:

  • Andrew John Doherty (Liberal Democrats)
  • Xanthe Frances Henrietta Messenger (Green Party)
  • Dominic James Morris (Conservative)

Poll cards will be posted to electors on Monday, January 16.

If you are not on the electoral register, you can make a new application at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The deadline for the district council to receive applications is midnight on Tuesday, January 24.

To vote by post, applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, January 25.

To vote by proxy, applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, February 1.

All relevant forms can also be provided in paper format by the Council’s Elections Team. 

For other possible town/parish council elections: only one nomination was received for the Fairford Town Council vacancy (North Ward) - from Colin Foxall; and only one nomination was received for the Chedworth Parish Council vacancy - from George David Arthur Broad.

As a result, Mr Foxall and Mr Broad are elected unopposed to the respective councils.
