THE formal election process has begun to select a new Cotswold District Council (CDC) ward member for Fairford North following the recent resignation of Cllr Abagail Beccle.

The election date, if required, has been set for Thursday, February 9.

Nomination paper packs for candidates will be available on the CDC website immediately in the New Year, and the formal Notice of Election will be published on January 5.

The deadline for nominations will be 4pm on Friday, 13 January 13.

The elections team and the returning officer will be available to accept nomination papers between 9am and 5pm on any working day from Friday, January 6 to Thursday, January 12, and from 9am until 4pm on Friday January 13.

Completed papers must be submitted by hand.

Further information will follow early in the New Year.

Cllr Beccle, of the Conservatives, was elected onto the council in May 2015, winning 644 votes.
