Throughout August and July, there were 320 unemployed people.

Comparing last month's figures to unemployment in the same month last year, there has been a six per cent decrease in jobseekers.

In September last year, there were 335 people unemployed.

When looking at young people aged 18 to 24, there were 85 jobseekers. This represents a 21 per cent rise from July, when the figure was 70.

Mike Nicholls of Jobcentre Plus said: "Compared to last year, the trend is still downwards. Cirencester is showing a buoyant labour market.

"A lot of people are coming into Cirencester and there are lots of stories of new employers. We've been able to help those employers with bespoke training."
