A MAN from Blockley was found asleep at the wheel of his car with a bottle of rosé on his lap on Saturday.

The 40-year-old was found in the car at 9.30pm with keys in the ignition. The bonnet of the car was found to be hot.

Officers were first alerted to the incident by a resident who was concerned about a man who had left a house and who was believed to be over the limit.

When found, the man was given a breath test, which returned 91 micrograms per 100ml of breath, nearly three times over the limit.

He was arrested in Springfield, Blockley and charged with being in charge of a vehicle while being above the alcohol limit and being in charge of an uninsured vehicle on the road.

The Blockley man will be appearing at Cheltenham Magistrates court on December 1.
