A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted in Tetbury and police are appealing for information to help trace the man. 

The 24-year-old was attacked in The Green last Thursday, October 13, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

A man jumped out from behind the victim, pushed her against a wall and slapped her before sexually assaulting her.

She suffered minor injuries to her face and ripped clothing, but managed to fend off her attacker and run away.

The offender is described as white, of medium build and in his late 30s to early 40s. He is about 5ft 8ins tall and had messy collar-length fair hair and stubble on his face.

He wore a navy or black short coat, dark jeans and brown shoes and is believed to be local to the area.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area.
