A CLOTHES shop in Cirencester has re-opened after appearing to have been shut down.

Customers were delighted to see Jungle boutique in Brewery Court re-open on Wednesday (September 21) after much confusion was caused about the shop's future.

Staff had arrived for work on Saturday, September 10, to find the locks had been changed, before the windows and door were boarded up that night, with stock locked inside.

Store co-director Leigh Chapman said this was done with no prior warning from landlord Wildmoor Properties, but that ‘misunderstandings’ had now been resolved and the shop was re-opened on Wednesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, following meetings with Wildmoor and Cotswold District Council, Leigh said: “We have had our misunderstandings with our landlord in the past and thanks to the help of third parties we began discussions to sort out our differences late last week.

“We have nearly completed these and are optimistic that Jungle will re-open on its current site by the end of the week.

“Jungle will then open in its new location in a few weeks’ time.”

Hilary Stewart, co-director and general manager, said: “Apologies for any inconvenience our temporary closure has caused. It has been an extremely difficult time and we are all just excited to get back to normal.”

Jungle will, however, be moving to bigger premises on nearby Black Jack Street by October 31, according to the owners.

Hilary said: “We will continue to trade from the Brewery Court site until October 31, latest.

“After that, we will start our new Jungle from Black Jack Street, in-between Coln Gallery and Keith’s coffee shop.”
