THE new kerb design on Castle Street seems to be causing more trouble every day, while the shared space itself is only adding to the confusion.
Is it too late for the town council to have a major re-think of the plan?
What’s more interesting is the launch of the national inquiry into the dangers of such road layouts across the country, showing Cirencester is not alone.
It all begs the question – what exactly was the thinking behind such a design?
Unless restrictions are put in place like double yellow lines and parking meters, it’s too easy for motorists to leave their cars parked there all day, but no restrictions will save people like Christine Vivian from tripping on the ‘invisible’ kerb.
It will be interesting to see what conclusions the committee comes back with and what the future holds for these town centre layouts.
