WORLD Cup winning football legend Sir Geoff Hurst, who now lives in Gloucestershire, has donated some signed memorabilia to the local Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

The items will go on sale on the Sue Ryder eBay store tomorrow, Saturday, July 30 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of England winning the World Cup.

Memorabilia in the 10 day auction includes a signed replica 1966 England football shirt, two signed posters and a signed copy of his autobiography 1966 And All That. Proceeds from the sale will go towards providing end of life care at Sue Ryder Leckhampton.

Sir Geoff Hurst lives in Cheltenham and his mother was from the county. He memorably scored a hat-trick to beat West Germany in the final which took place on Saturday, July 30, 1966.

He is a great supporter of the Sue Ryder hospice and recently raised a significant amount of money for the charity on the ITV game show The Chase.

Mike Tague, Head of Hospice Fundraising at Sue Ryder Leckhampton, said: “We are so excited and honoured to have Geoff Hurst donate these to us.

“He is a football legend – possibly the football legend in this country and to donate to us is just superb.

“I must admit though, there is more than a tinge of sadness at the thought that it really is 50 whole years since England last won anything in football!”

Sue Ryder Leckhampton is a 16-bed hospice based in Cheltenham which provides end of life care both from the centre and from people’s homes.
