  • THIS evening is the AGM of theTetbury Rail Lands Regeneration Trust at Tetbury Council Offices, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street at 7pm. This will include a review of accounts and the re-appointment of Will Cook as chairman of the company and directors. There will also be some exciting news about further funding/donations. This will be a perfect time for you to come along to find out more and perhaps get involved. All are welcome.

  • THE next Tetbury open police meeting point/surgery will be on Monday, June 27 from 12-1pm in Tetbury Town Council offices, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. Local, friendly officers are always keen to encourage local residents to drop-in for either for a formal or informal chat.
  • THE next Tetbury and district footpath group meetings/walk around the Daglingworth and Bagendon area will be on Tuesday, June 28 at 2pm. Cars will be needed for this walk.   • ON THURSDAY, June 30 there will be the patients' participation group AGM at 7pm in the waiting room of Romney House surgery. All patients welcome.   • ALISON Hesketh would like to thank everyone involved in this year’s Christian aid collection which raised almost £11,000 to the Christian aid week appeal. At last Saturday’s Parish Eucharist Reverend Poppy Hughes thanked Alison publicly for all she had done for this charity.
  • ON SATURDAY, July 7 you will be able to enjoy afternoon tea at Chavenage House from 4-7pm. Enjoy cream tea followed by a guided tour of this stunning Elizabethan manor house by members of the Lowsely-Williams.   • SUE Doidge, on behalf of girlguiding Tetbury, would like to thank everyone who visited their book sale and all those who donated books for this. They raised £380. Thanks to the Malthouse renovation committee who  raised £200 on their cake and jam stall.

  • ON SUNDAY, June 26 there will be Holy Communion Services in Tarlton, starting at 8am and in Coates, starting 9.30am. There will be a family service at 11am in Rodmarton.
  • ON SATURDAY, July 2 and Sunday, July 3 there will be traffic diversions in place through Coates between 10.30am-1pm to aid traffic flow for the Cotswold Show.
  • THERE is a meeting of the Coates Parish Council starting at 7.30pm on Monday, July 4. 
  • COATES Gardening Club has a summer evening outing to Sheepscombe Gardens on Thursday, July 7 departing from Coates at 6.15pm.

  • THE celebrations for the commemoration of the Battle of Sherston start tomorrow evening with is a boules competition at The Rattlebone Inn. On Saturday the Athelstan Museum and Jorvik Centre will be in the village hall. The following events will be at the recreation ground, with a bar, barbecue, teas and ice cream available all day:  at 10.16am the recreation field will open for Viking displays and shows, various skirmishes and KidiVik events through the day; at 2.30 pm the bells will ring out from Holy Cross Church; at 3pm there will be a re-enactment of the Battle of Sherston; at 5pm events close at the recreation ground; at 7.30pm Tim Bolton gives a lecture at Holy Cross Church (tickets, £10 to include a glass of wine, are available from Sherston Post Office; proceeds to the church); at 9pm there’s a party at The Rattlebone, with fireworks at 10.16pm. On Sunday there will be a thanksgiving service led by David Hoyle, Dean of Bristol, 10am in the Church of the Holy Cross. There is a full programme of events.   • THERE is a friendly boules club at the Red Bull Inn on the Malmesbury Road, which meets on Thursday evenings at 7.15pm. The large piste has an excellent surface and lighting. Absolute beginners or experienced players welcome, including juniors. For the more competitive members, there is a team which plays in the Cotswold Pétanque League.

  • SHERSTON School is pleased to confirm that a breakfast club will start in school from Monday, September 5, from 7.45-8.45am, run by PH Sports.   • GO ALONG to the village hall today at 7.30pm for a talk by the Wiltshire Ornithological Society about the 100 wild birds of Sherston; with free entry. This will be followed by a talk by Butterfly Conservation on the butterfly and moth species in the local area. There will also be an update by the Bristol Avon River Trust on the ongoing work around the village to improve the river.
