THE BRITISH Red Cross charity shop in Stow-on-the-Wold is calling for more volunteers.
The shop, which sells second-hand clothing, housewares, books and multimedia, opens six days a week and more people are needed to help run it.
It relies on volunteers to ensure donations are sorted and cleaned, and that the store is well-run to help the Red Cross raise valuable funds.
Shop manager Lindsay Morgan said: “The shop in Stow-on-the-Wold is very busy and our existing volunteers have been rushed off their feet.
"We really need a few more people to help us. If anyone with a couple of hours a week to spare would like to volunteer at the shop I encourage them to pop in and have a chat.
"Volunteering can be great fun and very rewarding.”
Charity shops are a vital source of funding to support the work of the Red Cross.
All profits go towards helping people in crisis situations – whether that is responding to a large-scale emergency overseas or to fund Red Cross services that help people closer to home.
Lindsay said: “Our shops exist entirely on donations from the public and we are very grateful for the generous contributions we receive. I encourage anyone having a spring clean to pop any unwanted items along to us.”
The Red Cross shop is located at Griffin House, Digbeth Street, GL54 1BN.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, visit the shop or call 01451 870096. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
