A SHOPLIFTER who was caught in Waitrose Cirencester stole at least £963 worth of alcohol in the past month.

Teresa Bane, 39, from Bristol, was arrested last Thursday after stealing £509 worth of alcohol from Waitrose in Cirencester.

She received sentences concerning three other instances of shoplifting which happened in the past month at Cheltenham Magistrates Court last Friday.

Bane stole from the Cirencester store twice; on the Thursday she was arrested and on Friday, June 10.

She was told to pay £395 compensation for her first offence and was given a community sentence for both offences.

Bane will have to comply with drug rehabilitation requirements and undergo treatment for drug dependency for six months, after which there would be a review at 2pm on July 26 at Bristol Magistrates Court.

Bane was also previously given suspended sentences for stealing £400 worth of alcohol from Waitrose Swindon on May 18, and for stealing £54 worth of alcohol from the Co-operative food store in Bath on June 6.

For committing offences during the period of her suspended sentences, she was given further suspended sentences.

With regards to her offence in Bath, she was committed to a 12-week prison term, suspended for 12 months.

For the theft in Swindon, she was committed to a four-week prison term, suspended for 12 months.

During the period of her suspended sentences, Bane will be required to undergo rehabilitation activity of up to 30 days.
