THE Thames Head Singers will be performing an afternoon tea concert to support an appeal for a new mobile chemotherapy unit for Gloucestershire.

The concert will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 2.30pm in Woodchester Priory near Stroud.

Attendees will be able to enjoy relaxing classical and modern pieces including Summertime, Moon River, Locus Iste, Exsultate Deo and upbeat songs from the First World War by local composer Michael Castle.

The afternoon event will be accompanied by a cream tea.

The singers are supporting the Tetbury-based charity Hope for Tomorrow who aim to bring cancer treatment closer to home for chemotherapy patients by providing Mobile Chemotherapy Units (MCU) for the NHS.

The charity launched the world’s first MCU in Gloucestershire in 2007.

The concert on Sunday will support the appeal for a Next Generation MCU for Gloucestershire.

Hope for Tomorrow recently received a Queens Award for Enterprise, the UK’s highest accolade for business success.

The charity’s founder, Christine Mills said, “We hope the Award will help us achieve our aim of having at least one unit in every county, bringing cancer care closer to patients.”

Tickets are £8 and are available from Buskins Shoes in Nailsworth, Sofas & Stuff in North Woodchester or on the door.

The price includes afternoon tea and entry will be free for under 16s.
