  • OAKSEY School’s Mrs Troughton is leading first aid sessions on a Thursday afternoon for Class 2 and 3 for the next six weeks. Pupils will learn basic first aid and how to help someone who might be unconscious.

  • TONIGHT, Thursday, Poole Keynes will hold its Annual Parish Church meeting at 7.30pm. 
  • THIS Sunday, church services being held in the parish are in Kemble at 9.30am, Holy Communion with Sunday School, and at 11am Poole Keynes will have a Family Service and in Somerford Keynes at the same time Morning Prayer will be held. Tickets (£10) are available for the Women’s Breakfast on Saturday, May 7 at 8.30am to spend time with Amy Boucher Pye listening to her inspirational talk ‘There’s No Place Like Home.’ Contact Elaine Kemp on 01285 770550 as booking in advance is essential.

  • POOLE Keynes welcomes all to the coffee morning in the village hall on Wednesday when the kettles will be on from 10-11.30am to make a variety of hot drinks with biscuits/cakes and always friendly natter.

  • THOSE who love to visit village fetes, the dates for our parish are Kemble and Ewen Saturday, June 11; Somerford Keynes, Saturday, June 25, and Poole Keynes, Saturday, July 2. 
  • THE weather was perfect for the lighting of the beacon/bonfire to mark the 90th Birthday of The Queen last week. There was an excellent turn-out of spectators when the hard-working team of volunteers watched as their efforts produced an amazing sight that lit up the sky. Thanks to Arkells (The Tavern) for the use of the field and for the opportunity of raising some money towards some of the expenses when the Royal birthday tea and parade takes place at the same venue on Sunday, May 15. Raffles raised £184 and the coins covering the Crown raised £54.46. Thanks to those who kindly supported these.
