  • MONTY Python fans will want to put Friday, February 26, at the village hall in their diaries. Community Night this month presents The Life of Brian.

The bar will open at 7pm, with projection commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets at £5 each will be available at the village shop from Monday.

  • PARISH communion will be held at All Saints’ Church, at 10am on Sunday.

There will be an Ash Wednesday service at 10am on February 10, at Fairford and 7.30pm at Lechlade.

  • THE date has been set for the first Wednesday coffee morning in the village hall. All are welcome to drop into the Dakota Room from 10-11.30am for a catch-up on Wednesday, February 24.
  • VOLUNTEERS at the village shop would like to remind everyone that February 9, is Shrove Tuesday and that a recipe for pancakes can be found in this month’s Down Ampney News. All the ingredients are available from the shop. 
  • DOWN Ampney School PTA is planning a jumble sale in March (date yet to be confirmed) and would be grateful for any donations.

If you are clearing out your cupboards, please hold onto any clothes, paired shoes, bags, toys books, DVDs or bric-a-brac.

  • SONG Cycles by Vaughan Williams and Finzi will be sung by the acclaimed tenor Colin Judson, accompanied by Richard Black on the piano at All Saints’ Church on Saturday, March 19, at 7pm.

Tickets are £10 each and available from The Rectory, 01285 851309.

The internationally renowned opera critic, Rodney Milne, who lived in Poulton until very recently, described one of Colin’s performances as “absolutely top world class”.

There will be an opportunity to speak with the performers during the interval.
