NEW reports have emerged of last night’s cycle accident in Cirencester, in which a 50-year-old was taken to hospital.

Initial accounts from Gloucestershire Police’s communications team said a female cyclist had collided with a car in Cranhams Lane.

However, several readers contacted the Standard to say that the accident occurred on Chesterton Lane, which one described as “very dangerous”.

Police at first believed the cyclist had collided with a car after a child stepped out into the road, but now say no car was involved.

Standard readers got in contact to say a child stepped into the road and the woman had swerved to avoid a collision.

The cyclist was then taken to Great Western Hospital with minor head injuries.

Chantal Merle, a mother who lives on Chesterton Lane, said the road is especially dangerous when children are coming home from school.
