LANDLORDS from a Cirencester pub have raised more than £400 for a charity that is close to their hearts.
Last Christmas, Pippa Harding and Brian Ingham who run the Oddfellows Arms, decided that they wanted to raise cash for the Royal British Legion (RBL), which supports wounded war veterans and their families.
The couple came up with the idea of placing a tower-shaped collection box on the bar and encouraged drinkers to make a donation to the charity.
Through the collection, which lasted until Armistice Day, the couple raised £403.69 and the cash was presented to the Cirencester branch of the RBL at the pub earlier this month.
Mrs Harding said: “We thought it was going to be about £300, to get another £100 on top of that is brilliant.”
Mrs Harding added that the pair were inspired to raise cash for the RBL because Brian's son trained in the paratroopers and many people who have passed through the pubs doors are war veterans.
