UKIP’S top brass in the Cotswolds has welcomed the news that Nigel Farage will be speaking in Gloucester for the first time.

The party boss and well-known character will be speaking at the GL1 Leisure Centre on November 9.

The meeting was previously scheduled for November 2.

Chris Harlow, who stood as Ukip parliamentary candidate in the Cotswolds and is the party’s branch chairman, said he was “absolutely delighted” Nigel Farage was visiting the area.

“He’s a very motivational speaker,” he said. “We’ll be talking about the EU referendum which is where most of our recourses are going at the moment.

“We’re getting prepared to carry out an active campaign and we’re hoping to work with other like-minded groups.

“The EU will be the main thing being discussed but that affects so many aspects of our lives: jobs, economic independence, immigration - there’s a whole range of things.

He added he was pleased when Nigel Farage was invited back as party boss after he acted on his promise to resign following his defeat in the parliamentary election for South Thanet.

Mr Harlow and his team carried out 17 public meetings in the run up to the 2015 general election on May 7.
