THOUSANDS of extra seats will be provided by coach company National Express, to help travellers affected by the upcoming First Great Western rail strikes.

Those travelling from Gloucestershire on a FGW train on July 8,9 and 10 will be relieved to hear that National Express will be adding extra capacity to support those effected by the 48 hour strike, which begins at 6.30pm on Wednesday, July 8.

The planned strike will affect travellers journeying to and from areas including Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester, Swindon, Exeter, Plymouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, Exeter and Bath.

National Express, whose bookings are already up 22 per cent yearly on affected routes, will be offering frequent services direct to Heathrow from Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester, and the option of connecting services to Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.

The news will also please fans travelling to the Ashes test match in Cardiff on July 8, as well as Ed Sheeran fans destined for Wembley Stadium on July 10.
