Stock pic - the Air Balloon roundabout is often backed up with traffic
UPDATE: Road re-opened at around 4pm, July 2.
THE A417 has been closed after a serious crash on the road between the Air Balloon roundabout and the Cowley roundabout.
Emergency services are currently at the scene, close to the junction of the B4070, following the crash between two vehicles at around 9.30am.
Diversions are in place, and traffic to Cirencester should use the A436 to Severn Springs, then right along the A435, and rejoin the A417 at Cirencester.
Traffic heading the other way should use the same roads.
Vehicles should try to avoid the area if possible, especially HGV's. Anyone who saw the incident or has information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 98 of 02/07/15.
