A PLAY park that residents campaigned against being built will be aimed at younger children and made much smaller.

Berkeley Group, the building contractor of the Kingshill Meadow development in Cirencester, is holding talks to find a solution to the unwanted park

Residents of Matthews Walk were outraged to find a play area would be built metres from their front doors.

They claimed that when buying their houses three years ago they were not made aware that it would be built.

Residents were shown plans and even a 3D model of the development which left the area as a grassy patch.

There is concern that the park will attract noisy teenagers and drag down house prices.

The proposed park is also next door to an assisted living home for vulnerable adults who want the space kept green

Berkeley Group halted building on the park at the end of April after a barrage of complaints from residents.

“We’ve been doing quite a lot of work to find a solution to the problem,” said managing director Rameen Firoozan.

“We have listened to our residents and we have spoken to Cotswold District Council about revising our proposal and we are in the process of revising the scheme.

“We are in touch with our residents; hopefully it should meet everyone’s requirements.”

Some residents have said they haven’t heard from the company since builders were pulled off the site.

The new park will be aimed towards younger children and will be made smaller so it is further away from residents’ homes.

However, residents are still keen to stop any park being built on the patch at all.

By law building contractors must provide a certain amount of leisure space with ever development.

Mr Firoozan said: “We hope to have a solution within the next couple of weeks, what I am trying to do is find something that meets everyone’s needs and aspirations."
