“WHAT a run! That must be the fastest anyone has taken that corner,” the commenter boomed into his mic as the go-kart trundled to a halt.
About 3,000 people descended on Tetbury today for the fourth annual Tetbury Wacky Races.
Twenty nine drivers, some topping 25 miles-an-hour, braved one of Tetbury’s steepest hills as they vied to become the fastest wacky racer of 2015.
The course started at the pits stop in Chipping Car Park, carved down Chipping Street into a death-defying hairpin bend and to the bottom of Gumstool Hill.
Time trials for the drivers started at 10.30am to determine their running order.
Then, after a short break, Rev Poppy Hughes blessed the course and the final began.
A pirate ship, cream egg and Jamaican bobsleigh were just some of the designs that hurtled down the hill.
There was also a vintage fair on at the Goods Shed, classic cars on display, a bar and BBQ and a fire engine for the throngs of people.
Full report of winners to come later in the week.
