A BAND made up of three young women have been chosen as the support act for legendary English rock band Status Quo at this month's Lechlade Festival.

All-girl rock band The Kix, from South Wales, have supported big names such as Saxon and Dr Feelgood in the past and are now thrilled to be supporting the Cotswold festival's headline act for 2015.

Sam, Harriet and Charlotte of The Kix are inspired by rock artists such as AC/DC and Led Zeppelin and have said they are so excited to be supporting the "mighty" Status Quo.

"We can't believe it," said lead singer, Sam. "We’re highly influenced by the classic rock era, and 12 bar blues, so can't wait to meet them. We're so excited and really looking forward to performing at the festival."

Formed by sisters Sam and Charlotte Bolderson, The Kix have grown up with a passion for classic rock and live music and it was a natural move to start playing music together.

With the addition of bassist Harriet Wadeson, The Kix started playing at local gigs. They went on to win various band competitions, and were invited to perform with the Welsh National Opera in a one-off exclusive show.

Invitations to play in Europe led to bigger and better things including headlining at one of the UK’s biggest Motorcycle rallies.

Now, the girls will be supporting Status Quo at Lechlade Festival on Sunday, May 24.
