THAMES water have confirmed that repairs to a pipe that burst last night are resulting in improvements to water pressure in affected area.
A fault was identified at around midnight last night and engineers worked overnight to check all of the pumping equipment for faults.
Just before 7am today engineers found the cause to be a large burst pipe in woodland near Purton and are working to get the pipe repaired and the reservoir refilled.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: “Our work to re-route water around our network means water pressures are now improving and supplies are gradually returning across the area.
“Some customers will have their water back sooner than others and in the meantime we’ll make sure bottled water is still available. We expect it to take until later this evening for everyone to have their supply back.
“We’re really sorry to all those who have been affected and are doing all we can to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
