A PETITION asks that parking charges are scrapped at a popular Cotswold Water Park attraction has been launched.
Since last week users of Neighbridge Country Park, which is managed by the Cotswold Water Park Trust, have to pay £1 for an hour of £2 or all day to pay to park at the free attraction near Somerford Keynes.
The petition set up by the Cotswold Lib Dems, requests that the charges are scrapped and the Water Park trust to work with residents to find a solution.
Paul Hodgkinson, deputy leader of the group, said: “The fact that this should be a community asset which should be accessible to everyone. The fact is that when you start charging for parking some people will be deterred from going. This place should be open and accessible to everybody.
“We decided to take the bull by the horns and set up this petition.”
He added that he was concerned that no consultation with residents was made on the decision to introduce the charges.
