RUBBISH complaints have been coming in thick and fast this week, as residents question why a skip in a Cirencester car park is always overflowing.
Residents and councillors were outraged to see the skip in Old Station car park in Tetbury Road overflowing with rubbish, paper and cardboard. There was so much this morning that it had spilled over the edges and piled up on the floor.
One local businessman, who asked not to be named, said that "this always happens" while Cotswold councillor Paul Hodgkinson tweeted a picture of the skip overflowing. He said it was a "total disgrace".
A spokesman for Cotswold District Council (CDC) said that someone would be down to clear the mess as soon as possible and thanked the public for their help in letting the council know.
"The recycling skip at the Old Station is emptied on a regular basis and, while we monitor usage, we also welcome tip-offs from the public , enabling us to attend to the site more frequently when there is a high demand," said the CDC spokesman.
"There is no excuse for anyone fly tipping their waste at the site when the skip is filling up and we would be pleased to receive information from the public if they spot offenders."
